Life gets busy. Between work, responsibilities, and the constant rush of everyday life, it can feel impossible to slow down. But sometimes, you just have to say yes to the little adventures, even if it means getting up before the sun the next morning. That's exactly what I did when I spent the night with my mom at her seasonal camper at Riverbend Campground in Leeds.

Nestled along the Dead River, which flows into Androscoggin Lake, Riverbend is the perfect place to unplug and enjoy a classic Maine summer evening. The little river was incredibly calm that night, almost like glass, reflecting the trees and sky as we sat by the water. It was one of those peaceful Maine scenes that makes you stop scrolling, stop worrying, and just enjoy the moment.

We made a fire, listened to the peepers sing as the sun went down, and later took a walk around the campground to check out everyone's campers, decorations, and creative outdoor setups. One of the best parts of seasonal camping is seeing how people make their campsites feel like home. Back at the fire, we roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the kind of quiet that's hard to find these days.

The highlight, though, was sleeping in the camper. I slept like a baby and woke up to the sound of rain gently tapping on the roof. As much as I wanted to stay under the covers, my alarm eventually went off, reminding me that I had to get up early and be on the radio. The struggle was real.

Moments like this are what Maine summers are all about: getting outside, enjoying our beautiful natural surroundings, and making time for the people you love. Life will always be busy, but sometimes the best thing you can do is say yes to a simple overnight adventure.
