No, that's not the Bob's that is closing.
The internet is all in a frenzy because of the confusing two Bob's. There is Bob's Discount Furniture and there are Bob's Stores. Bob's Stores are closing after 70 years in business.
According to Seacoastonline, Bob's Stores is closing all its locations, including one in New Hampshire. They were throughout New England, but not in Maine. After 70 years, they were financially struggling, and decided to close shop. They have 21 locations, with most in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
And that's where the confusion began. Headlines of Bob's closing made people mad dash to see if their beloved puppet Bob's furniture stores were closing. They are not!
Bob's Discount Furniture is pleading with people to stop confusing the Bob's!
Boston said that it's gotten so bad that Bob's had to take to social media to please understand that Bob's Discount Furniture is not in any way associated with Bob's Stores, which sold discounted clothing and shoes.
Not only are the names easy to mix up, but Bob's Stores is headquartered in Meriden, Connecticut, while Bob’s Discount Furniture's HQ is in Manchester, Connecticut!
On top of that, not only is Bob's Discount Furniture NOT closing, but they are also expanding with 12 new locations. To review, Bob's Stores (with only one location in New Hampshire) IS closing on July 14. Bob's Discount Furniture is thriving and expanding, and still has popcorn popping while you shop for your new piece of furniture.
