You Know You’re From Maine If You’ve Tried All 19 of These Foods
From barbecue in Texas to crab cakes in Maryland, every part of the country has its own set of iconic foods.
Maine is no different.
Not surprisingly, Food Network says the lobster roll is the food that defines the Pine Tree State, while Food & Wine highlights the whoopie pie as Maine's representative dish.
Those are good choices (and great foods!), but we can certainly dive deeper as those are just the tip of the iceberg for Maine food and drinks.
What other foods come to mind when you think Maine?
What about Moxie? The classic drink was created in 1884 by Maine native Dr. Augustin Thompson, according to Maine.gov, and it even became the official state soft drink in 2005.
Or maybe fried clams? In fact, three Maine restaurants were named as serving the best fried clams in the world.
Well, we've got a list of 20 of 'em, so take a peek and see how many on the list you've had before.
If you've had all 20, then you're likely, probably, definitely a Mainer. And if you haven't had them all, maybe it's time to add a few to your food bucket list so you can cross them off soon.
Let's have a little fun, shall we? (Give yourself a point for each food you've eaten, then add them all up and see how many you got!)
And let us know what other Maine foods should be on the list that we missed. Anyone else hungry yet?
