What Are the Chances School in Maine Will Be Cancelled Multiple Days?
April nor'easters in Maine are not common, and this one will last a couple of days.
So the big question becomes: how many days will school be closed?
Snow, freezing rain, rain, and ice are all in the forecast for Maine. At some point, the coast will see it all, and inland is looking at a wet, heavy, power outage-causing snow!
It looks like it starts Wednesday and then really gets cranking Thursday, wrapping up sometime Friday. So how will your school handle this? That depends on a couple of things, the first being your location.
How can I tell early if school will be canceled?
All you have to do is use the handy-dandy...
SNOW DAY CALCULATOR
All you need is a couple of pieces of information: the zip code for the school, what kind of school is it (public/private), and how many snow days you've had this year.
It's like reading the future! And who wouldn't want to do that? Do you have traditions you do to ensure you get a snow day? Here are some that have worked in the past (and I don't know how, but they do work)!
- Put your snow boots by your bed (to tell the snow gods that you WILL be wearing them?)
- Put ice cubes in the toilets (no clue how this works)
- Put a spoon under your pillow (your guess is as good as mine)
Either way, be safe and enjoy it while it lasts, because it looks like by next Monday, April 8 (the day of the solar eclipse), it will be in the mid-50s!
