Well, this is some disappointing news for Mainers.

In 2012, the Maine famous 'Wicked Whoopies' created a whoopie pie weighing in at 1,062 pounds and made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest whoopie pie ever made. Since then, the Rutland, Vermont has been coming after Maine's Guinness World Record.

After several attempts to break the record that failed, Dream Maker Bakers created a whoopie pie that weighed in at a whoopie whopping 1,187 pounds beating Maine's record by 105 pounds.

Well, congratulations to Rutland, Vermont. You did it. The world's largest whoopie pie. Maine had it for a decade and the whoopie pie is the official state treat of Maine. It's kind of our thing, even though there is a great deal of debate on exactly where the whoopie pie originated.

According to Wikipedia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Virginia have all claimed that the whoopie pie originated in their state. It's like a piece of land that five states can't decide amongst themselves who owns it. Ironically, Vermont is one of them.

So if you think we're just going to sit back and not fight to gain back our title Vermont, you better think again. This is a call to action to regain our title. Call Wicked Whoppies, get the press, call Guinness! The time to start planning to take back what is ours is now. Maine is watching you, Vermont, and we will be ready. We won't stop until we reach a whoopie pie that weighs a ton!
