There was a point in time when Burlington had two stores in South Portland, Maine.

That was thanks to a move from their old location at the Jetport Plaza to the new current location near Target at the Maine Crossing Plaza.

When that length move was finally complete, Burlington left behind a massive 44,000 square foot space near Staples.

Now that space is set to be filled and its new tenant will add to what has become a crowded furniture market in South Portland, Maine.

According to MaineBiz, Ashley Furniture is set to take over the old Burlington location in South Portland, Maine, as part of the Jetport Plaza.

The new Ashley location will feature a massive showroom that will include living room and dining room sets as well as furniture specifically designed for children.

Additionally, the new Ashley location will also house a specialized bedroom area featuring well-known mattress brands.

The new Ashley Furniture location in South Portland, Maine, is expected to open sometime in the next couple of months.

This Will Mark a Return to South Portland, Maine, For Ashley Furniture

Almost two decades ago, Ashley Furniture operated a homestore in South Portland, Maine. Conflicting reports suggest that location closed due to lease issues or ongoing structural problems with the building.

When Ashley Furniture returns to South Portland in the spring, it will have stiff competition. Jordan's Furniture, Bernie & Phyl's as well as the Furniture Superstore will all be within a few miles of new location.
