
Is KPot Korean BBQ Ever Going to Open in South Portland, Maine?
It was just about one year ago when one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in America announced a move into Vacationland.
That chain is KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot. The chain announced plans to expand into Maine for the very first time.
The plans was to take over the space that was formerly home to The Macaroni Grill right next to the Maine Mall at 415 Philbrook Road.
It Doesn't Appear KPot Korean BBQ Will Open Anytime Soon in South Portland, Maine
If you've been over to the Maine Mall area recently, you've noticed that not much has changed with the former Macaroni Grill.

Some signage has been removed and their remains a large storage container in the parking lot but the restaurant still looks about the same.
KPot still lists their South Portland, Maine, location as "coming soon" but you would have expected to visibly see some interior or exterior changes to the space by now.
Until the chain removes their South Portland listing, there still remains some hope of a location opening in Maine but the likelihood seems bleak.
What is KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot Exactly?
It's a restaurant that combines a pair of classic Asian food preparations. On one side, you have Korean BBQ, a chance to cook meats and veggies on your own tabletop grill at your table inside the restaurant.
Hot Pot is a fast-growing sensation in America where patrons begin their meal with a simmering pot of broth and add meat, noodles and veggies to it as they create their own masterpiece.
KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot Is Expanding Rapidly Into New England
While the opening of the Soiuth Portland, Maine, location seems to have stalled, KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot already operate more than 100 locations across the country. Their expansion into New England has been aggressive in the last couple of years.
KPot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot has opened 5 new locations throughout New England in the last calendar year.
