Sports-Themed EZ Passes Coming to Maine

At one point in time, the EZ Pass system in Maine featured bulky transponders that struggled with battery life and the ability to stick to windshields.

As time has gone on over the last couple of decades, the EZ Pass transponders got sleeker and sturdier. But they were still taking up too much windshield space for many drivers.

That's why the Maine Turnpike Authority opted for another solution.

Maine Turnpike Authority Introduced EZ Pass Stickers This Summer

Earlier this summer, the Maine Turnpike Authority rolled out EZ Pass stickers to any customers who wanted to make the switch from traditional transponders.

These EZ Pass stickers work exactly like the old school transponders but are far less bulky, don't struggle with the same battery life concerns and are actually fitted with enhanced theft protection.

There is no requirement in Maine to switch from a traditional transponder to a new EZ Pass sticker, However, if you're sports fan or prefer a nice looking aesthetic, there may be a reason to switch soon.

Sports-Branded EZ Pass Stickers Arriving in Maine Soon

In the coming weeks, the Maine Turnpike Authority will begin offering customers a chance to upgrade the look of their EZ Pass stickers with the logos of some of their favorite New England sports teams.

Some of the EZ Pass stickers offered will include Portland Hearts of Pine, Portland Sea Dogs as well as the Boston Red Sox.

Maine is going to be the first state within the EZ Pass network to offer unique EZ Pass stickers.

The Maine Turnpike Authority says the new sports-branded EZ Pass stickers will be available in the early-fall.
