I love this story on so many levels. It shows compassion and the power of a selfless good deed.

It is clear that James is one of the most beloved security guards on the Providence College campus.

According to the GoFundMe, he works four overnight shifts a week on the 4th floor in Raymond Hall. He greets everybody with a big smile and always welcomes conversations, no matter what time of night the students run into him. For many students who are living away from home for the first time, James makes PC feel more like home with his warm presence. But James hasn't been home to see his own family in 11 years. The students at PC thought this visit was way overdue, and decided to take matters into their own hands.

The crowd funding began, and this is where the power of social media kicks in. Not only did the students raise the $3,500 that James needed to fly back home to Nigeria, but they raised 10 times that. The last I checked, it was up to $30,360. James will not have to pay a dime towards his travel expenses, and he might even be able to buy some nice gifts for his family too.

Watch as the students surprise James with this trip:

I mean, come on! College is a time that many of us are selfish and wrapped up in our own things. These Providence College students should be so proud for the positive impact they have made on James and his life. Suddenly I feel the need to root for PC in the upcoming March Madness games. Go Friars!
