Remember the classic movie Footloose with Kevin Bacon?  He moved to a town where dancing was illegal.  Remember how ridiculous we all thought that was?  Wait until you get a load of the illegal laws in New Hampshire that are downright hilarious and so confusing at the same time.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

You know those beach clean up's that we have on Hampton every now and again?  The Blue Ocean society has a regular schedule of getting together and cleaning the beaches.  That entails picking up trash or bring a rake to make it look all tidy, right?  If you said yes, You would be breaking the law.

According to World Population Review;

If a person is caught raking the beaches, picking up litter, hauling away trash, building a bench for the park, or many other kind things without a permit, he/she may be fined $150 for ''maintaining the national forest without a permit.

The Real Life Story of Footloose is right here in New Hampshire

Another law on the books here in the Granite State just "fries my banana."  (That means it really makes me confused and perturbed.)  NH Law forbids you to tap your feet, nod your head or keep time to the music in a tavern, restaurant or cafe.  Why?  I would like to know the origin story of that silly law.

These laws are not enforced today, thank Goodness.  Here are a couple more that caught my attention.

You may not run machinery on Sundays.  Also, it is illegal to carry away or collect seaweed at night?  Huh?  I wonder if it had something to do with those piping plovers.  Those thigs spoil all the fun.
