Special Surfer is a community-driven organization that provides the magical opportunity for people who may otherwise never have the chance to try surfing.
Their mission:
Special Surfers is a non-profit organization sharing the empowering experience of surfing with children and young adults of all ages with special needs. This program provides the public with a view toward the joy a community can bring to the lives of individuals with special needs and their families through volunteerism and generosity.

When and Where
The Special Surfer events happen on the third Tuesday of the month at Gooch's Beach aka Kennebunk Beach through the summer. This year's upcoming events are on June 22nd, July 20th, and August 17th.
Volunteers Needed
Many hands are needed for these wonderful events. They need Dry Crew on the beach, Wave Captains, Safety Team members, special OPS, and Surfer's Assistants. To get all the details on the positions and to volunteer, click here.
