Maine Mall Restaurant Opening New Location in Portland, Maine

One of the most popular places in the Maine Mall for people to congregate is the food court. Over the last 20 years, the food court has seen plenty of restaurants come and go. Some restaurants run their course, some restaurants' leases are up, and others just decide to move on to different things.

It's possible that the Maine Mall can be a starting point for some restaurants. That's the case for Tacos La Poblanita, as they ready their new location in Westbrook, Maine for the spring. Another Maine Mall food court restaurant is planning to do the same, as Soul Food Paradise has leased a familiar space in Portland.

Soul Food Paradise will move into the space formerly occupied by Arcadia at 24 Preble Street in Portland. For years, the space was haven for gamers before Arcadia moved into bigger digs inside the former Port City Music Hall. Now, Soul Food Paradise will try their hand at the space in hopes their home cooked specialities will become a destination in Portland like so many other restaurants.

If you haven't visited the Soul Food Paradise location in the Maine Mall, they serve up a variety of comfort foods inspired by recipes inspired by the upbringing of the Soul Food Paradise's founder in the Bronx.

While the lease may be in place, Soul Food Paradise will likely need some time to get their new location at 24 Preble Street ready to go and operational. Soul Food Paradise hopes to be open by the summer of 2023.

BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery.
