Though it is seemingly good news to hear about massive retail outlets opening back up, it certainly won't resemble the Maine Mall you knew prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Maine Mall is home to about 100 different stores. Everything from clothing, electronics, home good, sporting goods, entertainment, food and more. Though just because the complex is opening back up, doesn't mean all the stores inside the mammoth structure are.

Only about 20 of the 100 stores are actually expected to open on Monday, though the actual number could be a few more or a few less. Shoppers are also going to be asked to wear face masks when inside the shopping center. In addition, some smaller stores will have hard limits on the number of shoppers that can be in the store at one time.

Some other changes you will notice when visiting the Maine Mall in the near future will be in the famous Maine Mall Food Court. According to the Portland Press Herald, the food court will be open, but there will be no tables or chairs. Also, hours at the mall will be reduced.

The Maine Mall, though I don't go frequently anymore, has always had a special place in my heart. When I was a little kid my mom used to take me to the mall every December so I could do my Christmas shopping for family. I would bring the money I had saved up all year (though she'd never let me spend it), and we would spend hours criss-crossing the mall in search of the perfect gifts. Though we don't do that anymore, I'll always have those special memories.
