Finally, we have snow... and a lot of it.
And just like that, Maine looks like, well, Maine.
Maine's First Significant Snowstorm of 2025
What a beautiful sight it was waking up to fresh snow Sunday morning. While Northern and Western Maine got a decent amount, Southern Maine got walloped by powder. Talk about a great way to slide into the rest of winter. And now, we can finally cross-country ski again.
Maine Storm Snow Totals
Let’s take a look at some of the snowfall totals from around Maine, courtesy of our friends at WGME-TV.
South Portland - 12.5"
Hopefully, gas-powered snow blowers haven’t been outlawed yet, because Mother Nature brought the hammer down on South Portland.
This was also a bit of a surprise, considering most predictions had Greater Portland receiving around 6 inches total.
Here’s the rest of the Top 5:
South Windham - 11.0"
Alfred - 11.0"
Westbrook - 11.0"
Cumberland - 11.0"
Apparently, it's cool to have received 11 inches of snow.
Here's how the big cities fared from this past Sunday's storm.
Portland - 10.2"
Biddeford - 10.0"
Lewiston - 6.8"
Auburn - 6.5"
Augusta - 3.5"
These are finally some good totals for Maine, especially in the South. According to Current Results, a site that tracks weather events, Maine's average February snowfall is 17.05 inches. We're just days into the month, and parts of the state are already well on their way to that number. Here's hoping a few more storms are on the way, especially for the sake of our wonderful winter business community.
And guess what? There are more storms in the forecast.
