Maine’s New Women’s Soccer Team Sells Out Season Ticket Deposits in Under an Hour
To say Maine has soccer fever may be the understatement of the century.
The latest example? A team that was only recently announced has already secured a massive number of season ticket deposits.
This is simply incredible. The deposits sold out in less than an hour. I'm certainly glad I logged on right when they became available.
What is USLW Miane?
In case you're wondering, USLW Maine is the latest club to join the United Soccer League W, better known as the USL W. Essentially, this is the future Hearts of Pine women's team, though an official name and brand have yet to be announced.
This franchise has been a long time coming, as Hearts of Pine always intended to field both a men's and women's squad. Starting in 2027, they finally will. And clearly, plenty of fans will be there to support them.
The USLW is what's known as a pre-professional league, featuring mostly current and recently graduated college players who get firsthand experience competing at a high level. Better yet, players do not lose any collegiate eligibility by participating in the league.

Where will USLW Maine Play its Games?
The new Maine club will compete in the Northeast Division against teams from New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont. The schedule will include six home matches, all of which will be played at Fitzpatrick Stadium, the current home of Hearts of Pine.
As difficult as it already is to get tickets for Hearts matches, it appears the same will be true for the women's team. Honestly, that's an awesome problem to have. The demand for soccer in Maine right now is surreal.
As an old soccer head like myself, seeing a community embrace one of the world's greatest sports with this level of passion is simply amazing. And with the overwhelming response to the women's team's season ticket deposits, it's clear this excitement goes beyond just Hearts of Pine.
Another great aspect of this new club is that it creates even more opportunities for female athletes in the region to compete at a very high level. In fact, this will be the third women's pre-professional soccer team in Maine, joining Maine Footy and the Maine Mystics.
However, they won't face those clubs in league play, since Maine Footy and the Mystics compete in a different league structure.
All in all, this is a great day for women's sports, women's soccer, and soccer in general. I'm incredibly proud to live in a community as welcoming and passionate as this one.
