New England Rescue Animals (& Owners): Cadbury Looking for New Mascot With Cash Prize
Is your adorable New England rescue star-worthy?
I bet you answered yes.
Cadbury wants YOU (well your pet).
You probably know Cadbury from the bunny, Easter candy, Cadbury Creme egg, or any kind of chocolate or candy, really.
For years, Cadbury has had a bunny as the mascot for their brand. Recently, Cadbury allowed local submissions of pets of all kinds (dogs, cats, bunnies, turtles, etc) to take over as their mascot.
This year, the Cadbury brand is doing something really amazing for animal shelters and rescues across America.
They just launched a new campaign looking for a rescue, and rescue only, to become their official Cadbury mascot.
"Rescue pets bring so many smiles to people every day." Cam Bogie, senior associate brand manager of Cadbury, said in a Food and Wine article. He noted, "this year's cash prize also includes an element that gives back to the organizations that support these special animals."
Wait...cash?
Yup. This year, if your rescue pet is selected to be the mascot for Cadbury, they are going to give you $5,000. But that's not all.
The company will also match the $5,000 to donate to a shelter of your choice, according to the contest page.
So you can keep $5,000 for you and your pet to get new toys, food, etc., AND you can help your local New England animal shelter by gifting them $5,000 for supplies, better facilities, and anything else the organization needs.
I love this idea, and want to see the prize go to someone in New England. I think the idea is brilliant, bringing attention to the "approximately 6.3 million companion animals (that) enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year," according to the ASPCA.
So, New Englanders, does your rescue have what it takes? Will you help raise awareness for your animal and all of the other rescues across New England and the nation?
