Here in New England, we are recovering quicker than other parts of the Country regarding the pandemic.  All but one of the 6 New England states had a score that landed them in the top 10 according to a study by WalletHub.

  • #2 - Maine
  • #5 - New Hampshire
  • #7 - Vermont
  • #8 - Massachusetts
  • #9 - Connecticut

Rhode Island missed it, coming in at #14.  However, they do make the top 5 of 'Highest Share of Population Fully Vaccinated' all of which are New England states!

  • Vermont
  • Connecticut
  • Massachusetts
  • Maine
  • Rhode Island

The lowest hospitalization rate puts Vermont on top followed by Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine, in that order, so it seems that we are recovering nicely!

Here's The Methodology

In the article, they looked at COVID health, leisure and travel and economy, and labor market to come up with each state's score.

Speaking of COVID and the vaccine, we are headed into the Winter months and there are places getting prepared.  For instance, according to a press release, the York County Emergency Management Agency has reopened the vaccine clinic at the Marshall's building in Sanford, Maine.  It will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-7pm.  On September 18th, the clinic will add weekend hours on Saturdays from 8am - 4pm.

Many discussions about the vaccine have become political.  There are people who avoid talking about the vaccine or the pandemic all together.  Someday, maybe, we will be able to talk about vaccines without anger, but I feel we might be a long way away from that.
