So many people were left disappointed last December when the Happy Wheels location on Warren Avenue in Portland announced that they were shutting down. It had been the last of many Happy Wheels locations still standing and seemed to be going strong. So what happened? Well as it turned out, the owners of the building that Happy Wheels called home wanted to sell, and they did to developers, leaving Happy Wheels without a place to operate. That should all change by this fall however, as the owners of Happy Wheels have something big planned in Westbrook.

According to WGME, the paperwork has been filed and approvals have been made by the Westbrook Planning Board to allow construction to commence at 84 Warren Avenue for a brand new Happy Wheels location. According to the Portland Press Herald, the size of the new building will be similar to the old location down the street and the interior will have the same feel with some modern updates. There will be a large parking lot with overflow capability.

The approval allows construction to begin in hopes of having the new Happy Wheels open before the busy Fall season. That is a best-case scenario given the current state of the pandemic and businesses all across Maine, but the owners are hopeful.
