Well if you thought the Patriots offseason couldn't get any more drama filled, hold our beer. The NFL announced Thursday afternoon that Patriots star wideout Julian Edelman would be suspended for the first 4 games of the 2018 regular season after violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Edelman, who missed the entire 2017 season with a major knee injury, had rehabbed and appeared to be on track for a major return. The Patriots announced that Edelman will appeal the suspension and that appeal will be heard by the NFL in the next couple of weeks. If the the suspension is upheld, Edelman would be eligible to return on October 4th against the Indianapolis Colts.
