Pier Fries opened today, and it was just what the people of Southern Maine needed after six weeks of strenuous lockdown. Pier Fries is able to open because they are already able to handle the regulated aspects of social distancing, and the customers were lined up and down the street.
Cindy Hanson of Standish told the Portland Press Herald Saturday, "It's well worth it, we had to make this trip. We can't wait for it to open every year." According to Mike Marcello of Townsquare Media Portland, "The line went all the way down Old Orchard Street; it is what the people need now for sure!."
