From Spotlight to Shutdown: 10 Greater Portland Restaurants That Closed After National TV Fame
It's tremendous when a restaurant or chef from Maine is featured. I don't know if it's the collective chip on Mainers' shoulders, but the level of proud can't be measured. Our restaurants and people are really just our children. And, when they make it big, well...we think we all do.
It is special, though. Maine has a tremendous food reputation. Portland has become very trendy over the last decade. Chefs from Maine have competed on hit shows like "Chopped" and "Top Chef." Even Biddeford was named one of the next best food cities in America. Maine is absolutely killing it.
Unfortunately, it's not always a happy ending. Even with all of this success, closures are a part of restaurant life, and Maine's are no exception. This even includes establishments that have been featured nationally on programs like "Food Paradise," "Drinking Made Easy," "Throwdown With Bobby Flay," and "Restaurant: Impossible."
