Portland Woman Wins Northeast Speed Bartending Competition

Hunt & Alpine bartender Sylvi Roy just may have the fastest hands in the biz. On monday, she conquered the competition in the Northeast regional Speed Rack event and is now heading on to Nationals in Chicago, according to the Hunt & Alpine Club.

What is "speed rack," you may be wondering? The Speed Rack website describes the sport as a "national cocktail competition featuring top female bartenders in key cocktail markets, putting them head to head in round robin style timed and judged challenges. It is the first competition to highlight the up and coming generation of strong women in the spirits industry."

100% of proceeds from the events Speed Rack produces in each city goes to breast cancer education, prevention and research.

Now that Roy has proven her speedy bartending skills in her home region, she will head to Chicago to test her abilities against other female bartenders throughout the nation.
