Professional Hockey is Back In Lewiston, Maine For a Game in October at The Colisée
It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Lewiston Maineiacs played their last game at The Colisée. There hasn't been a hockey team to call Lewiston their home for any significant amount of time since the Maineiacs left after eight seasons in 2011. But if you're hoping to see teams hit the ice in Lewiston, you've got a chance coming up in October.
The Maine Mariners will be playing a preseason game against the Worcester Railers at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée on October 15 at 7 p.m. and admission is very reasonable! Tickets are just $2 and will be available at the door, but hit the ATM on your way there because it's cash only.
After a season during the pandemic in 2020 that saw many restrictions, the 2021-2022 season is shaping up to be a better one for the Mariners. It will also be their first season as an affiliate of the Boston Bruins. Their home opener at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland is on October 22 against the Railers, so the game in Lewiston on the 15th is a little preview of what's to come.
