One of humanity's most wonderful traditions is celebrating the finer things in life, like food.

Food festivals are all the rage these days. Well, they kind of have been since the dawn of time. There’s nothing like gathering with friends, family, and even strangers to enjoy each other's company while devouring calories and carbs.

Maine is Filled with Wonderful Food Festivals

Maine has a lot of food festivals that date back quite a ways. However, one of the newer ones continues to grow and is quickly becoming one of the finest out there. It’s also coming up soon, so I hope you're ready for the 2025 edition of the Rockport Donut Festival.

The Rockport Donut Festival is One of Maine's Newest and Tastiest Food Festivals

Now in its third year, the Rockport Donut Festival is a celebration of all things, well, donut. This year’s event takes place on June 13 and 14, bringing together donut makers from across the state and encouraging them to create themed donuts for everyone to enjoy.

Festivalgoers can devour these donuts while also enjoying food from local vendors and live music. It’s fun for the whole family and a wonderful way to celebrate something with deep roots in Maine’s Midcoast region.

While donuts have been around for ages, the donut hole hasn’t. In fact, according to legend, the donut hole was invented by a Maine sailor named Hanson Gregory Crockett back in 1847.
