It always happens right before the holidays, and this closing is no exception.

According to the Sun Journal, this Save-A-Lot in the Mt. Blue Plaza in Farmington will close on November, 23. The assistant manager Janna Marie Toothaker posted on her Facebook the news and said that employees have been told. Janna has only been the assistant manager for nine months. She also told the Sun Journal that Hannaford in Farmington found out and is 'offering a mini job fair...' That is so nice!

This location employs 8 people. The community this discount store serves is worried about finding affordable food. The owner of this store also owns Save-A-Lots in Portland and South Paris and could not be reached for a reason why it's closing.

The same owner also had a store in Sanford that closed with no notice just before Christmas back in 2016 - again, no comment on why. Janna commented on her Facebook post that there would be no big sale of everything in the store. The products will be shipped between Portland and South Paris.

Most comments were upset that it will be gone, but one particular comment was more concerned,

Omg, what is half of Franklin county going to do they might not serve a lot of people but the people they do serve really need it how are they going to eat meals bad enough for a good dinner to make for a family of five costs around 18-25 bucks depending on if it’s from Walmart or Hannafords go to save a lot get a while dinner with leftovers for 9-12 bucks!!

There is a Save-A-Lot in Waterville, but that's a haul from Farmington...it's always around the holidays.
