According to WMTW, Cape Elizabeth Sen. Rebecca Millett is leading the charge to ban vaping products in Maine until the F.D.A. has determined that they are safe.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention have received hundreds of reports of lung related illnesses associated with vaping and there have been nine deaths so far, the news station reported, and Maine just got its first confirmed case.

In an article from the Portland Press Herald, the owner of a Portland vape shop pointed out that the ban will not prevent people from buying the products online, which is where "black Market" products that contain unregulated ingredients are sold. There are approximately 100 vape shops in Maine that would take a huge hit if the ban passes, the newspaper reported.

Discussions continue about adding warning labels and banning flavored products that appeal to kids.
