39 years ago this week, the Ghost in the Machine Tour arrived in Portland at The Cumberland County Civic Center.

Did you know that The Jimi Hendrix Experience played live onstage in Lewiston?

The show happened on November 3, 1987 at the Civic Center and was his only concert appearance ever in Maine. He had a special guest that we all know and love as part of the show too.

Lucky for us, we can watch this very cool 8mm footage from that epic night in the Capital City that was the only time Elvis performed here.

37 years ago today, the Talking Heads came to the Civic Center in Portland for the first and last time on their Speaking in Tongues tour.

The historic night happened 30 years ago today, on July 13, 1990 on the Manic Nirvana tour.

Surprisingly, despite a spirited reminder by yours truly on the BLM airwaves that “Robert Plant, the friggin’ Golden God was coming to OUR town” the show was not a sellout. How does that happen? It’s still a perplexing question that vexes me to this day.

The show on April 15, 1982 at the Civic Center was sold-out! Sting came back a few more times but this was the only Portland appearance ever by the Police.
