The Fours, A Popular Sports Bar Near TD Garden In Boston, Has Closed Permanently
Throughout the State of Maine, the coronavirus pandemic has taken a toll on restaurants and bars across Vacationland. But if you think Maine is alone when it comes to a crunch on business, think again, One of the longest tenured sports bars in Boston, The Fours, officially announced on Facebook that they would be closing permanently after 44 years in business.
The closing of The Fours will mark the end of an era for many visitors to the TD Garden. Before and after Bruins and Celtics games, The Fours was often the place to grab a bite and a pint. At one point in time, The Fours was considered one of the most popular sports bars in the entire country.
But no longer. With the TD Garden unable to host fans and severe restrictions limiting the amount of people The Fours can host, the business just didn't see a way forward. Both the Bruins and Celtics have been playing their games at remote locations and it's not clear when they'll resume playing at the TD Garden next season. Additionally, all concert tours and family events at the Garden have been postponed or canceled, leaving abutting restaurants scrambling to get customers at tables.
Unfortunately, The Fours is unlikely to be the last notable restaurant around TD Garden and Fenway Park to fold. The Fours does have two additional Massachusetts locations that will remain open.
