This Banner Is How We Do Social Distancing-Portland, Maine Style!

STAY WICKED FAH APAHT. Only Portland, Maine could have a banner like this hanging in the city during a global pandemic. These wicked cool Social Distance and Mask Up public art banners are all over Portland these days. They are all incredible and all created by local artists. This fantastic public health art initiative is the brainchild of the fine folks at Creative Portland, the official arts agency for the City of Portland.

Here's another great banner that is hanging in Portland. Once again, only in Maine do we use BEARS to help us social distance. Fantastic!

Our friend Dinah Minot is the Executive Director of Creative Portland and told us:

“Throughout the next few months, cheerful reminders by artists will be sprinkled throughout the City, high up on buildings like the Franklin Towers, the Westin Hotel and Mechanics Hall, as well as on flag banners, all along Congress Street from Monument Square to Longfellow Square. Hiring local talent and spotlighting artists during the pandemic is vital to celebrating our creative community when public-facing events are rare. The artists’ impactful designs personalize Portland’s efforts to make a positive difference during this challenging time,” she adds.

Just drive around Portland for 15 minutes and you'll see these banners. Look for them at the Westin Hotel and Mechanics Hall.
