Here’s 3 Classic Movies We Want to See at a Maine Drive-In
Combine a gentle moonlit sky with a calm summer evening and there's nuthin' else quite like watching a classic on The Big Screen Under The Stars.
We're pickin' a few faves here that we've seen (a lot) more than once, but that's the point: you can recite the lines word-for-word in most scenes and not worry about your indulgences intruding someone else's space.
"2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) - I actually work with a guy who's never seen this movie. How is that possible? Everyone needs to check this one out at least once on a really gigantic screen. Hypnotic and crazy and maybe too many "symbolic metaphors", but you gotta love its total mistrust of a computerized world...
"A Hard Day's Night" (1964) - 90 minutes of non-stop smiles, laughter and Beatles sing-alongs, it's hard to top -- Catching this one on The Humongous Screen will not only take you back to the good parts of growing up, it will leave you (and your heart and your head) in a much better place than you were in, so yeah! yeah! yeah! we'll take it!...
"Jurassic Park" (1993) - Like most movie franchises, the first one's the best and you have to treat yourself to this movie's generally amazing bigness as it's nearly impossible to fully indulge in the dinosaur lunacy from the comfort of your living room couch. This just might be The Ultimate Drive-In Movie...
We would also like to suggest opening the night with a classic Looney Tune (any Bugs vs. Marvin The Martian will do) along with a 1930's Three Stooges short featuring Curly (Our pick? "Three Little Beers" where they "learn to play golf").
What can't you wait to se at the drive-in???
