According to WGME, there might soon be a new way to show your gratitude to a wounded service member or veteran, by giving them your moose hunting permit.

Hunting is a huge pastime in Maine and those moose hunting permits come from a lottery that isn't easy to win. Fortunately, the Maine senate has just passed legislation that would allow someone who has won a permit through the lottery to donate it to a veteran or wounded service member. That is so cool.

Being outdoors in Maine, chilling in the woods and getting some outdoor recreation in is important to all of us, but maybe even more important to someone who has sacrificed for our country.

The bill was introduced by senate President Troy Jackson and now waits to be signed by Maine Governor Janet Mills. The permit could either be given to a specific veteran or be drawn from the commissioner's list of wounded service members and vets.
