The 2020 moose hunting permit lottery will be here before you know it. It's only a week away from tomorrow. Mainers who want to be part of the hunt next fall needed to get their application for a permit in at Maine.gov by May 14.

According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife upcoming events list on their Facebook page,

"The 2020 Maine Moose Permit Drawing, originally planned to be held in Jackman at Unity College Sky Lodge, will now be a virtual event broadcast live on June 13, 2020 at 1pm."

Full disclosure here, I am on a plant-based diet. However my wife's side of the family like many here in Maine, are avid hunters. It's just not something I personally take part in. But I get it and absolutely respect those who choose to.

According to an article in the Bangor Daily News early this year

" In 2019 a total of 2,820 moose permits were allotted."

Good luck to all the Blimpsters who are in the drawing and hoping to get a big one this year.
