According to South Portland-Cape Elizabeth Sentry, last week the City of South Portland voted against putting another marijuana moratorium in place. The moratorium placed a ban on even considering license applications or site plan reviews for any kind of retail development associated with the product. People are already inquiring about the possibilities of social clubs, manufacturing and other business opportunities. As of right now there is still a lot to suss out, such as how much the license fee should be and zoning rules. Before you get your hopes up about opening shop anytime soon, licenses can't be granted until the state has decreed it's rules, and that's not going to happen until February of 2018.
