For my birthday, Mark took me to my favorite Portland restaurant, David's Opus Ten on Monument Square for a 7 course tasting menu. Above is Vegetarian Chef De Cuisine Rocky Hunter, showcasing Mark's dessert; buttermilk and poppy seed ice cream, blueberry compote, skillet cornbread and BBQ macerated cherries with candied lemon peel.

Earlier in the meal we enjoyed chili-lime marinated flank steak, farmer's cucumber salad, mint yogurt, red chimichurri and fried plantains. The plantains were deliciously crunchy and the steak was perfect! I LOVED this course!

We always request the Chef's Table because we love to watch our meals come together, and the chef's are interesting and engaging. Rocky is also a musician and has some very cool ink. Matt is the Omnivore Chef De Cuisine and has tasted the world by travelling all over Southeast Asia, Europe and New Zealand.

This is my dessert, Summer's Smores; dark chocolate ice cream, bruleed meringue and a graham cracker tuile!

After a quiet round of applause, the staff autographed my menu. Yes, I am a chef groupie.
