We do not clean out our basement, because we have a cellar. Our house was built in 1900, it even has a little root cellar room. Now, this is not an old Sea Captain's house, this is your standard New Englander with a Farmer's porch and no fancy would trim inside. It's dark and damp in our cellar, and the sump pump is on almost constantly to keep it from flooding. The dehumidifier needs to be emptied at least once a day when it rains, and we avoid going down there at all costs. Which may be why once something is stored there, it never comes back up. But spring cleaning, and a little renovation, demand that we descend into the Deep Dark and make some improvements to our storage situation down there. Mark painted the walls with special paint to keep the water from seeping through them, he then built some big-ass shelving and wired lots of lighting for the mice to see by.

I expected a graveyard of sorts, and that's what we got. All of the electronics that we hadn't let go of! My boom box is in the garage now, but what do we do with this old stereo receiver, ginormous television remote and and my personal favorite, the fanny pack C.D. player?! I used to wear it while walking Back Cove, and it even still had my Paula Cole, "Harbinger" C.D. in it from 1994! I've been listening to it on my kitchen C.D, player and time traveling.

Luckily, we found a V.H.S. player so that we can watch our old tapes that surfaced. A lot of them are from before we met, so I expect that Mark and I will be busting a gut seeing ourselves, and each other, when we were younger and stupider. Yes, I said stupider on purpose.

What electronic relics have you held on to? Do you have a cellar, or a basement? Comment on our Fan Page or tweet #vhsrocks

After finding all this stuff, I went back to my 90's hair today.
