It's not the first time Maine has been the set for a scenic movie, and it won't be the last!

From horror movies to rom coms, our state's natural beauty is adaptable to any genre.

This time, it's a coming-of-age story produced by Journey Home Pictures, who are filming in Saco and Old Orchard Beach this week, according to the Press Herald.

"Pretenders" is an independent film that centers around a small group of friends who reconnect a few years out of high school and decide to go for a road trip. When they find themselves in their hometown that has changed drastically since they left, they realize they can be whomever they choose and switch it up while they're there.

The film highlights LGBTQ experience without centering around it as a plot point nor brushing it under the rug. OOB and Saco posed the perfect vacation town vibe the filmmakers were going for, the Press Herald reports.
