Over the last few decades, Maine has become a hub for craft beer culture.

We have some of the most recognizable breweries making some of the most well known beers.  Allagash's Allagash White and Shipyard's Pumpkinhead, for example.

Of course, in a state where we have so many great breweries, it only makes sense that we would also have some amazing brew fests, too.

One of the best attended brew festivals in Central Maine is just days away.

The Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival

Presented by Main Street Skowhegan, the festival gives you a chance to sample drinks from Maine producers while enjoying plenty of food and entertainment.

There are several different ticket options.  General admission lets you start sampling at 3 PM, while VIP lets you start trying all these amazing beverages at 2 PM.  Regardless of which option you choose, the taps keep flowing until 7 PM.

There are also "music lovers" tickets are for people who only want a few samples and are mostly there because it is going to be a big party!

It’s also a great excuse to spend the day in Skowhegan. Check out some local shops and restaurants, take in the Kennebec River, then settle in for an afternoon of Maine-made drinks, food and live music. Proceeds from the festival benefit Main Street Skowhegan and its ongoing efforts to revitalize the downtown.

Here's the Top 20 Maine Craft Beers According to BeerAdvocate

Here is a list of the 20 highest rated beers from Maine breweries on the website, BeerAdvocate.

The list is dominated by three breweries- Allagash, Bissel Brothers, and Maine Beer Co. The IPA style is clearly the most popular, which is not surprising given recent beer trends.

Research comes from Beer Advocate's Maine page in July 2026.
