A Maine elementary school student was hospitalized on Wednesday, October 23, after being struck while in a crosswalk.

According to an article published by WGME 13, the incident occurred Wednesday afternoon outside of the Guy E. Rowe Elementary school in Norway, Maine. Police said that the unidentified elementary school student was struck by the vehicle and was attended to promptly by people on the scene.

Following the crash, the student was immediately transported to an area hospital where they were treated for bumps, bruises and a possible concussion, WGME said.

Officials at the school indicated that the student was released from the hospital and had returned home where they are currently recovering, according to the news station.

Additionally, WGME reported that the principal at Guy E. Rowe Elementary School said counselors would be available to speak with students who may be having a hard time coping with the incident.
