Last month we were invited to a Lego-themed birthday party, it wasn't our first and won't be our last. Kids love them! I have witnessed no less than a bazillion Legos since having kids. The Lego company made 60 billion pieces last year alone. In 2013 they partnered with WWF, an environmental group, to develop a sustainability plan and since then they have cut the size of packaging and invested in wind power. The next step is to replace the plastic building blocks with a more environmentally friendly material. There are more than 100 new employees working on the project at Lego's sustainable material center in Denmark. With all of the toys and packaging out there, let's hope other companies follow their example!

While they are improving Legos, maybe they could develop a material that is less painful to step on!
