Life-Sized Animatronic Dinosaurs Invade Portland, Maine, for 4 Days This August
For a handful of days this summer, Portland, Maine, is going prehistoric. That's because 'Jurassic Quest', a family-friendly tour all about dinosaurs and more, is stopping at the Cross Insurance Arena from August 3 through 6.
In recent years, Jurassic Quest has gone from a handful of tour dates to one of the most sought-after tours in the country. Their collection of life-sized dinosaurs is impressive, leaving both adults and children in awe.
Just like the movie with a similar name, Jurassic Quest offers visitors a chance to get up close and personal with a few of their cinematic favorites. There will be raptors for you to train, and they'll be surrounded by big beasts like the spinosaurus. And of course, it can't be a dino show with a Tyrannosaurus Rex. It'll be there, and roaring loudly.
Beyond just the life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, there's a slew of other activities for kids at Jurassic Quest. There's excavation sites where fossils can be dug up. You'll find an area where smaller kids can ride a baby dinosaur. There will be some prehistoric-themed bounce houses where kids can get their extra energy out.
Visits to Jurassic Quest typically last 1-2 hours. Be aware that there are two tiers of children's tickets, one that grants access to a limited amount of the activities, and one that grants unlimited access. Many of the Jurassic Quest activities are best suited for children between the ages of 2-10.
