There's nothing in the world quite like a Fenway Frank.  I'm gluten free, but when I'm at Fenway Park, I cannot resist the flavor of the epic hotdog.  I'll suffer through the bloated stomach for that hotdog, which no other place in the world can replicate.

Yes, I know what's in a hotdog, but hotdogs are so All-American.

You love hotdogs too?  Great, then how about a dream job driving one of the most iconic vehicles on the planet?  Oscar Mayer is now hiring "hotdoggers" to drive the fleet of six Wienermobiles all over the country, including New England.

Yes, THAT Wienermobile.  The unmistakable hotdog vehicle is 27 feet long and 11 feet high, so don't think it's a cinch to drive this thing.  It takes training.

According to The Daily Meal, the Wienermobile was first designed as a marketing vehicle for the Chicago area in 1936.  Once World War II started, with gas rationing, the vehicle was taken off the road. It came back in the 1950s as a fleet of vehicles traveling around the country.

Then in the 1970s, as advertising strategies changed, the fleet was taken off the roads again.

Fast forward to 1986. For the 50th anniversary of the Wienermobile, Oscar Mayer commissioned a new vehicle to commemorate the holiday.  It was so successful, that in 1988 the company rolled out a new fleet of six Wienermobiles and started traveling across the country again.

There were big crowds in Waterville, and Augusta, Maine, last summer, and in Manchester and Hopkinton, New Hampshire, not to mention Boston, Massachusetts. New England is a hot spot for the vehicle especially in the summer.

What are the qualifications to drive the Wienermobile?

You need a college degree, and to be really outgoing and full of energy and a sense of adventure to sport the uniform of a "hotdogger".  If you want to apply, here's the application website.

Oh, and if you're wondering where to get one of those historically favorite "wiener whistles", those are only available at the Wienermobile.  Happy hotdogging!
