Fall’s in Full Swing, So Catch Maine’s Colors Before They Fade
The weather is finally making it feel like fall here in Maine.
However, it doesn't mean that the season hasn't already been rolling along, especially when it comes to fall foliage. The colors are strong and stunning, no matter where you are in Maine.
Maine is Having a Wonderful Fall Foliage Season
The foliage season is cruising by, with reports now dropping weekly. According to Maine.gov, Northern Maine has just passed peak season, with mid-October being peak for Central and Western Maine, and then closer to the end of October for Southern Maine.
It feels like the season is flying by, and maybe it's due to the unseasonably warm weather we have had. Thankfully, it hasn't negatively affected the colors. It's wonderful to see the leaves starting to change quite a bit. And thanks to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Maine Foliage Report, we can see exactly where things stand.
We officially have our first region that is past peak. It was a great run, Northern Maine, but we’ll see you in 2026.
Where is Foliage the Best in Maine Right Now?
The rest of the state is a hotbed of activity, from peak conditions in parts of western, north-central, and northeastern Maine to high color levels in the south and east. What a perfect time to hit the road and take in some amazing fall colors.
There are no longer any 70- or 80-degree days in the forecast, so fall temperatures should finally be consistent here in Maine. That basically means the rest of the foliage season is going to be absolutely ideal for leaf peeping. I mean, who doesn’t love a little crisp in the air while enjoying the outdoors this time of year?
