Only in Maine: Woman Prevents Forest Fire With a Frying Pan
Maine Forest Rangers are applauding the incredible quick response of Nancy Weeks. She saw a campfire left by some dumbass that was beginning to spread last Friday. Nancy contacted authorities and then used a frying pan to carry water from a nearby pond to knock down the flames until they arrived on the scene. Way to go Nancy! Who knows how badly that fire could have grown without her calm, thoughtful solution.
We love our campfires here in Maine. So this is an important reminder for us all. Next time you decide to enjoy a fire (no matter how small), make sure there's plenty of water around! And douse those flames completely before you walk away. Maybe keep a frying pan handy too.
