Earlier this week the Portland Sea Dogs announced they would be offering curbside and takeout for their ballpark food. I was most excited to get a Sea Dogs Biscuit, the iconic treat made by Shain's of Maine: two chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream in the middle.

However, the coveted biscuits weren't available, and now we know why.

Screenshots began circulating through social media on Wednesday regarding iconic Maine ice cream company, Shain's of Maine; specifically regarding the owner, and alleged racist and sexist remarks and actions.

Later that same day, owner Jeff Shain released a statement on the Shain's of Maine Facebook page about the allegations:


As a result, on Friday morning, the Portland Sea Dogs, who have had a longstanding relationship with Shain's of Maine because of The Sea Dogs Biscuit, announced that they have terminated their relationship with them effective immediately.
