Today’s Blimp Time-Hop
34 years ago today, Ozzy Osbourne kicked off his Bark at The Moon tour right here at the Cumberland County Civic Center!
This was Portland's live introduction to Ozzy's new guitar player, Jake E. Lee. He joined in 1983 as the official replacement for Randy Rhodes (Brad Gillis of Night Ranger fame filled in until then on the Speak of the Devil Tour) and stayed with Ozzy through The Ultimate Sin.
They parted ways in 1987 and Ozzy found Zakk Wylde, who ended up being his most enduring guitar player.
Opening the show ( on their first US tour by the way) was non-other-than Motley Crue!
This is the tour when shenanigans included Ozzy and the Crue doing their best to out gross each other. Here's the infamous ant-snorting story.
Check out both set-lists! Ozzy was generous to the Crue allowing them a 12 song show.
