Order has finally been restored at my house with the arrival of our new 2015 calendar! Our lives revolve around the kitchen calendar, and without it the last month has been filled with anxiety over possible missed girl scout meetings and orthodontist appointments! I've had to call my hair stylist to remind me of my next appointment because I had no calendar to write it down on, appointment cards disappear into the abyss that is my purse.

Before I reveal the most fabulous calendar of 2015, here are some, that though intriguing, did not make the final cut:

Dora calendar

I started out at my usual spot for buying anything, Dollar Tree. Could be I need bath towels, maybe peanuts or birthday balloons, it's my jumping off point. Sadly, these were the only remaining calendars and were swiftly vetoed by our 8 year old because, well, they are baby calendars.

With a 10% off card in hand, I went 3 doors down to Nonesuch Books. I was met by a WALL of calendars! There was even a hen calendar! I loved both of these but they are the itty-bitty good-for-nothing size. If you have no appointments to write down and are just curious about what day it is, these are for you.

This one caught my eye immediately, but the image of a nun holding onto a pole with her head thrown back took my mind to a bad place, and I started worrying for my soul. This one is out.

Spock and Kirk, monkey and tiger. Unlikely friendships are cool but there wasn't enough room for notes. Buh bye.

Tempted as I was, this retro calendar caught my eye and the deal was done! It even has a folder at the bottom for special notes, it comes with stickers and lots of space for writing stuff down. Most of all it reflects my home-making philosophy.

I am looking forward to having a glass of wine and filling in my new calendar with my special fine point Sharpie tonight. Yes, I actually HIDE my special Sharpie so that my kids don't use it to for coloring. I found one of my expensive calligraphy markers without its cap yesterday and I had to count to ten. Slowly.

Is your home calendar your North Star? Are you lost without it? Have you moved it into your phone? Share on our Fan Page or tweet #whatisthefreakingdatetoday

It's the 22nd, by the way.
