Growing up in Maine during the 60s and 70s likely meant that "Bert and I...And Other Stories from Down East" was enjoyed by your family on the old turntable. Marshall Dodge and Robert Bryan were the co-founders of Bert and I.

They did an amazing job of connecting us to who we are as Mainers with their local dry-humor storytelling. This is where we first learned through their yahn-spinnin', that "you can't get there from here". Six decades later, we still love hearing it.

We are saddened to hear that Robert Bryan passed away yesterday. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fans like us. The news was posted on Facebook by longtime friend and collaborator Maine humorist Tim Sample.

Here's Bob telling an original story "Bert and I" getting the "Bluebird" boat "out into the hahbah" complete with all the incredible mouth-made sound effects, live onstage in 1993. RIP Bob. Thank you for celebrating life in Maine with us with laughs.
