Don't let the impish smile fool you, this guy's a beast on the ice. Meet Mike Norton, a South Portland Firefighter, EMT, Sea Captain, hockey player and philanthropist.

Watch Mike and an amazing cast of characters ranging from South Portland Middle Schoolers, South Portland High School Alumni and So. Po. Firefighters to former pro players battle it out at "Checking for Charity" Be at the Troubh Ice Arena in Portland on March 15th to help raise money for the South Portland Professional Firefighter Charitable Funds Account.

Not only do our South Portland Firefighters run into burning buildings, work in the worst weather and work weekends and holidays to keep us safe, but in their spare time they raise money for their Charitable Funds Account that donates to important and varied non-profits that benefit our community.

You can become a sponsor for Checking for Charity or make a donation at cfcmaine.org.

Some of the very deserving non-profits that benefit from the charitable funds account are:

  • The Travis Roy Foundation
  • South Portland Food Cupboard
  • American Heart and Lung Associations
  • Trauma Intervention Program
  • South Portland Toy Drive
  • Memorial Middle School
  • Dempsey Center
  • Seeds of Peace
  • The Salvation Army
  • South Portland Little League

See you on March 15th for Checking for Charity.
