Johnny Bickford is a musician who grew up on Munjoy Hill in Portland back in the 1970s and 80s.

According to his bio on his website, he has since moved to Boston and is now the lead singer of a band called Capital 6, but you can never take Maine out of a Mainer.

As a tribute to all the people he grew up with back then, he posted a YouTube video of his cover of Bruce Springsteen's "My Hometown," one of many hits of Springsteen's massively successful Born in the U.S.A album from 1984.

The video shows photos of familiar places in Portland back in the day. Things that many people in Maine never even knew existed like the giant public swimming pool which has been filled in and is now a parking lot. Monument Square when it was actually a square with traffic moving on all sides of the monument.

It's a song that any of us can relate to thinking about where we grew up, but for those who did so in Portland, this puts pictures to the memories you hear in the music.
