'Tis the season, which means a whole lot of holiday-related activities popping up across Maine. That includes this Sunday, when more then 1,000 people are slated to dress up like Santa Claus and run a 5k around the Maine Mall area. No, we're not kidding.

According to The Forecaster, the Santa Hustle 5k is back again in South Portland this year and will happen this Sunday, December 2nd at 8am. Participants in the race will receive a Santa hat, Santa beard and performance hoodie. As participants move along in the race, stations are set up offering them Christmas cookies, candy and other nourishment, all while Christmas carols play in the background. The spectacle of more than 1,000 Santas running through the mall-area is truly a sight.

Additionally, Santa Hustle raises money for charity. This year, the race will benefit Easterseals Maine. Registration is open now, with day-of registering possible for an increased fee. Santa Hustle also welcomes everyone to watch the race as well.
